Site Preparation and Grading
Site Preparation and Grading in Waco
Once a lot is cleared, it still has to be shaped. Sealaskatimber handles site preparation and grading across Waco and McLennan County, taking a rough parcel to the elevations and slopes on the plan. We strip and stockpile topsoil, move the cut and fill with dozers and excavators, and set pad elevations, drainage slopes, and a compacted subgrade ready for a slab, driveway, or structure.
Why Compaction Matters
A pad is only as good as the fill under it. Loose or uneven fill settles later, cracking slabs and rutting drives. We place engineered fill in controlled lifts and compact it with a plate compactor or sheepsfoot roller to roughly 95 percent of maximum dry density, the standard Proctor spec for load-bearing ground. That is the difference between a base that holds for years and one that fails after the first wet Waco spring.
Our Process
We grade positive slopes away from where a structure will sit, so water runs off instead of pooling against a foundation. Rough grading shapes the parcel first. Finish grading is the tighter final pass that sets the exact pad level before you build or seed. Silt fence and inlet protection go in where the site drains toward New Road or a nearby creek to meet stormwater rules.
